Our Vision & Ethos

“Your garden, how you use it and what you want from it are very personal things and that’s something I completely respect. That is why we work closely with our clients to produce plans that are individually yours, tailored uniquely to you.

Designing to create a Sense of Place is key to our approach to all of our designs. We do not replicate any space meaning each and every one of our gardens has individuality, designed according to your aspirations as well as the context of the space and its surroundings.

I am involved directly throughout the design process as well as throughout the complete garden build. With your input, myself and my team will plan your space, undertake the drawings and be on the project every step of the way. That’s something that’s very important in our approach.”

The Design & Process

The early stages of any project are vital so that both you and us here at Sense Landscapes are completely clear on what’s needed to create exactly what you want.

Design

We can provide design only services as well as a complete design and construction service, from conception to completion. Whether you require a full garden layout or options for a specific area of your garden we tailor a design service that suits your individual requirements.

Our gardens are designed by us and with that comes our years of experience of garden builds, having built all of the gardens that we have designed. The build experience is hugely beneficial when applied to the design stage because what is put down on paper is already being built in our mind throughout the design process. From the moment we enter the garden on consultation, to putting pencil to paper and to the final presentation to our clients, we know what it takes to build our gardens meaning you can move toward the construction stage with confidence.

The Process

On initial contact

The first thing we’ll do following your enquiry is discuss your project with some key questions from us to find out what you are looking to get out of the garden, and how you intend to use it.

This also provides the opportunity to discuss any ideas you might already have for your garden, your timeframe for the design and for the build as well as the chance for us to explain a little more about us and how we operate.

The early design process and concepts

The next stage in the process follows a visit to you at your property to carry out a garden survey and a commitment to a design proposal tailored to suit you and your specific project requirements. This is an important stage and is time well spent in the garden with you to talk through early ideas and establish exactly what you are looking to gain from your garden.

We then take all the information we have considered whilst in your garden back to the drawing board and develop concept designs which are later presented to you with supporting information in plan and sketch form, as well as suggestions on materials and planting options to enable you to visualise the early concepts for your new garden.

Detailed design

Once the concepts have been considered a detailed design of your proposed garden is then drawn up together with supporting sketches and visualisations that show you exactly how your garden will be transformed.

The design drawings are handed over to you at this point and you have the opportunity to take everything in and provide feedback should any amendments be needed.

At this stage we then provide you with a detailed proposal for the full build of your new garden and begin the process of managing your project.

The Build

Once we have agreed a final design for your new garden we will discuss details in relation to the build. We will meet in person and go through the planning of your project, being as clear with you in relation to key project details such as logistics, access and waste disposal, and we will provide you with all the necessary information to include a programme of works and payment schedule for your agreement.

This is where things get exciting and we’re closer to realising your new dream garden.
